• Существует мнение, что G.erolesii на самом деле является синонимом Gymnocalycium schroederianum ssp. boessii Kiesling, Marchesi & Ferrari 1991. Можно также встретить утверждения, что Gymnocalycium erolesii Neuhuber & C. A. L. Bercht 2002 = Gymnocalycium hyptiacanthum (Lem.) Britton & Rose 1922, хотя и у Б.Шюца, и у Х.Тилля можно встретить оба эти таксона. Оба упоминаются и в новейшей системе В.Тилля и Х.Амерзаузера (2013), но отнесены ими уже к разным подродам: G.erolesii числится среди представителей подрода Trichomosemineum (впрочем, как и другие растения из серии Queliana), тогда как за G.hyptiacanthum сохраняется место в подроде Gymnocalycium (серия Hyptiacantha).

• Some people assume that, in fact, G.erolesii is a synonym to Gymnocalycium schroederianum ssp. boessii Kiesling, Marchesi & Ferrari 1991.  There are also references that Gymnocalycium erolesii Neuhuber & C. A. L. Bercht 2002 actually equals Gymnocalycium hyptiacanthum (Lem.) Britton & Rose 1922. However, both B.Shuetz and H.Till mention G.erolesii and G.hyptiacanthum as separate species. Both species are also listed by W.Till and H.Amerhauser in their newest version of Gymnocalycium genus classification (2013), although they place them in different subgenera. G.erolesii is transferred by them to the subgenus Trichomosemineum (together with other plants from the Queliana aggregat). On the contrary, G.hyptiacanthum retains its position as member of subgenus Gymnocalycium (Hyptiacantha aggregat).
