Gymnocalycium amerhauseri altagraciense_stellatum kleinianum P 119

– A plant from the collection of Tomáš Lachký, Bučovice, Czech Republic.

Trichomosemineum: http://www.kkplzen.eu/index.php/forum/5-Kaktusy/434-gymnocalycium?limit=10&start=1650#32500
  • Although this plant is generally known as Gymnocalycium altagraciense P 119 among cactophyles, we can hardly agree with the idea of it belonging to that taxon. It does not only resemble G. stellatum v. kleinianum by appearance whereas G. altagraciense Bozsing ex Schuetz 1981 nom. nud. is usually treated as a synonym of G. amerhauseri H. Till 1994 from the subgenus Gymnocalycium, section Gymnocalycia (aka Ovatiseminea). The shape of its seeds corresponds to the shape of Trichomosemineum Gymnos as well: http://www.kkplzen.eu/index.php/forum/5-Kaktusy/434-gymnocalycium?limit=10&start=1650#32500

  1. Yes, Takashi, you may be quite right… Then, we may presume that some cactus dealers offer dubious plants labeled as Gymnocalycium altagraciense P 119. Sad, but true…
